SAP FICO: Financial accounting and controlling: FI gives you the economical position of a company at any given point of time. Whereas CO or controlling is used internally by the management to get reports on their profitability analysis. Since FI is required to create a Company Code, it is said to be the back bone of any implementation in SAP.
SAP SD stands for sales and distribution: The company activities of selling and delivering products and services to customers come under SD. The preparations of sales order, Invoicing and receivables management are the main focus (c2c process).
SAP MM: Materials management as it is known takes the planning and controlling of all materials, equipment and services required by a company so that they are available as and when required at a reasonable price(p2p process)
